One Community PD aims to digitalize community policing. The app brings officers and the citizens whom they patrol over together digitally. We partner with police departments and create a home page for each department that works with us. The town or community home page has basic crime information, a map of the community, buttons that link to sectors within those communities, and a video of a crime heat map that takes users through high crime areas.
As a side note here, police departments geographically separate their jurisdictions into separate sectors to organize patrol. Typically the same officers patrol the same sectors. We make pages for each sector. The reason we do this is so that users can go to this page and see, interact with, and set objectives with the specific officers who patrol over their communities. We have screenshots with bios of the officers who patrol in a given territory, a video portal for the officers to upload to, polls for the users to vote in to set objectives, and a comment section.
As an example user: Start on home page of site. Search “Umass Dartmouth” (a college department we work with). On page see the option for sector, the map, the crime statistics, and the video of the 3d crime map.
Now, click on sector 1 button. On Sector 1 page you will see the officers, the polls, the video portals, and the comment section.
If we don’t have your town set up, contact them and tell them you want it!
